This week there are so many activities going on! It’s so fun, and I think it’s a great way to close out each school year. We have band/choir concerts, awards ceremonies, teachers have to prepare for exams next week, and we have our staff banquet this coming weekend. I think it will be at the banquet that it will hit me that I’m actually leaving my home here in Chengdu. I’ve looked through so many pictures from the past to remind me of my time. I have put together a small photo album on facebook just to help me process all that happened. There are SO many mixed emotions. The school is SUCH a different place than when I first came back in 2004. The team dynamics have changed in a huge way – each year better and better, making it harder to leave now. Honestly it would have been easier to leave a few years ago.
I have spent quite a bit of time in the office preparing what I can in advance to make the last week not too terribly stressful. Registrar work is naturally busy, so anything I can organize and prepare ahead helps some. Teachers have to turn in their seniors' grades to me the Friday before the last week of school, so that I have time to upload transcripts and report cards, check that gpa’s and grades are correct and then start the printing. I try every year to get these documents printed before graduation. It’s one chunk of work to get done before doing the rest of the school’s reports. After that I will get Elementary grades done at the beginning of the last week. A few things I’m doing before leaving – saying goodbyes to places and people as well as my dog Lelaina. I will take her to this family that lives in the south and attends another international school. The family has 2 children, so I think Lelaina will get a lot more attention…though she sure is my little baby.
