Calling for a Flood?

This past weekend I was literally flooded in! I awoke at 3:30 am on Monday to hear car alarms going off and people shouting outside my 4th floor apartment. It was raining quite hard as well. I thought maybe the water was so heavy that it had set off alarms and some silly person was not willing to go out in it to turn off the alarm. It wasn't that though.
I didn't really sleep. I called our wuguan ...basically the maintenance for our complex to see if they could come fix my power outage. The man was so patient as I talked as nicely as I could in Chinese...trying to convince him that all our apartments were out of power and that it'd be great if he could come and fix it. I thought for sure he said he'd come...then I laid there waiting to hear the electricity come back on. An hour later I decided to call again...thinking maybe he misunderstand that I live in gate 4 instead of 10. Sometimes those two numbers get mixed up when said in Chinese. The patient man answered again. I couldn't fully understand what he was saying but thought he said he'd come. Another hour went by. Now it was 5:30, so I called a 3rd time to see...yes, basically he was trying to say he couldn't make it in and all the power was shut off because of the flood. However, I had never learned "flood" in Chinese...so there was definite miscommunication.
I decided to go ahead and start getting ready. With no power, I had no hot water. So I braved a cold shower. Then decided to just head to school to fix my hair and proceed with the day. I was exhausted from waking up at 3:30 am...so I was already planning to ask my principal if I could leave a little early after teaching. As I let the dog out on the porch it was at that moment that I realized I was literally flooded in. I stood there in amazement...realizing now why the car alarms were sounding and people were yelling. haha What a day!
Needless to say, I was trapped in. No power...nothing to do really except rest...and try to stay cool in the humidity.
This whole circumstance reminded me of that song by John Waller, "Calling for a Flood." This may sound crazy after an annoying circumstance, but it brought the words of the song to mind. How I long to be flooded in my mind and heart with Him. If you haven't listened to the song check it out.
